And obviously you don't know jack about it, Toyota is going to have a hard enough time making the races due to the top 35 rule, not to mention the only big name driver they have is Jarret. Get a clue!

Damn motox, you slapped the words right off of my tongue. I was getting ready to explain the top 35 rule to our friend and I scrolled down a bit and walla, you saved me all of that breath! I agree somewhat that with the $$$ they are dumping into their program that they will be ultra competitive-when they make it in. Had Harvick jumped ship along with Jarrett, and Robbie too, it would have been a different story.

NASCAR is THE only sport that I eat, drink, breathe. I enjoy the NCAA tournament to the utmost but give me the smell, the roar, the atmosphere of NASCAR and I'm happier than a DS in the dunes.

By the way, they are not circles, they are tri ovals, quad ovals, and road courses. If you like the racing at Bristol you will love it at Dover. Dover is Bristol on 'roids.

In NASCAR all the technology is the same, its up to the drivers to set themselves apart. And yes Ace does like NASCAR... you can telll by his hatred for Jeff Gordon.

WORD! Best athletes going. I believe the average driver loses somewhere along the lines of 8-11 pounds during a race. Slinging around 3500lbs at 200mph for three or four hours is not for the meek. Can't do the F1 thing, gave it a few tries and I just don't find the attraction. Those things are like airplanes with no wings.
Open Wheel Sissy Racers I say. When was the last time you saw a driver in CART/IRL/F1 lay a bumper or fender on a competitor who didn't have the courtesy to get his slow azz out of the way?

Give me NASCAR or give me death. If that doen't clear up any misunderstandings about my loyalties then I don't know how to explain it.

Exactly, the people who make fun of Nascar being an "oval sport" or whatever, are ones who don't understand it or havn't had the ***** to racing themselves. I love racing side by side!

And with the "Car of Tomorrow" coming to NASCAR, the drivers will really be in control!

OK, this doesn't have anything to do with quads. It's a little trivia.

You have a NHRA top fuel drag car sitting at the starting line. Along comes a NASCAR running and maintaining 200 mph.
When the NASCAR crosses the starting line of the 1/4 mile track, it trips the starting light for the top fuel car.
At what point in the 1/4 mile track does the top fuel car catch and pass the NASCAR and how fast is it going when it does. The NHRA top fuel speed record is 336.15 mph and a ET record of 4.437 seconds.

I edited this post to add this: would any of the variables come into play on this IE: the top fuel car will be doing 268 mph in the 1/8.

I know its posted below, but I wanted everyone to get a clear picture of it.

It may be a wierd question but I know a few of you guys will have fun figuring it out. =]

Thanks for any answers. =]

The top fuel would beat the Nascar by 18.48' Formula, 200mph X 5280' (which is a mile)=1,056,000' now divide by 3600 (total seconds in a hr) and come to 293.33 ft/sec. Then X's that by the top fuels 1/4 mile (1320 ft) time of 4.437 would = 1,301.52 ft. So when the top fuel is passing the finish line at 1320' in 4.437sec the Nascar at the same time would be at 1,301.52 ft, thus loosing by 18.48 ft. Or loose by .063 sec.

Wow I can't believe so many people like (fall for) Nascar. I really believe Toyota will be competitive. They already have Jack Rouch worked up because their motor program is so good in other race programs. If Jack's program is the best (I think he is in Nascar) he should welcome Toyota to beat on them, not be scared of them. In the Craftsman truck series the top 6 in points drive Toyotas. It's a matter of time. I'll give Nascar one thing, the concentration level for 500 miles would be high, but so is Indy car & they go even faster. You can't bump cars in F1 or Indy, the cars won't take it. Even Rusty Wallace admited on ESPN that Indy was better racing. Too each their own I guess. Look at the technology F1 provides street cars. What can 40 year technology do for my Accord? I just remember once during that All Star type race that something happened to Jeff Gordon & they let him bend the rules & race anyway!!! Can you imagine the NFL switching teams around in the playoffs just for better ratings? It's just to WWF for me. Five laps to go & Nascar pays some nobody driver to tag the wall & bring out a yellow. What have you got for the TV & race fans???? A two lap shootout! Tell me you guys can't see right through that? Do you guys like it for the wrecks & and the soap opera type story lines or do you really believe it's real & not staged. I want the truth

Squeege, That racing is the coolest. In the US people are anxious to sue. We could never have a WRC series here for too long where people can tap the cars as they go by.

When I look at SportsCenter and watch the highlights of the "Stick and Ball" sports and see the stands at 20% capacity for America's pastime I don't think I'm the only one who fell for NASCAR. No real NASCAR fan watches racing for the wrecks. We watch it for the lack of wrecks. For the skill of the drivers who maintian control at 190+ miles per hour while being bumped and banged around by their just as eager to win competitors. For the adreneline produced when your favorite driver is being chased down by your most hated driver in the closing laps and hoping he can throw the block or keep it out of the wall when the chrome horn has been layed to his rear end.
It's about God fearing red blooded blue collar hard working Americans putting on a good show. Not about some punk azz grabbing his crotch and shaking it at the crowd, pounding his chest when all he did was execute what the team afforded him the opportunity to do, Not about going to Colorado for some rehabilitation and raping the desk girl. Not about shooting your pregnant girlfriend in NC. Not about spending three or four seasons suspended because you use crack cocaine. America is fed up with that crap. Look at the Neilsen ratings, for the past twenty years NASCAR ratings have increased astronomically while all other sports have plummeted. If the NFL wasn't so easy to gamble on it would be number two behind our racing friends. As the majority of our stick and ball atheletes have become wife beating drug abusing self centered premadonnas the fan base for racing has grown. I'll repeat, we are fed up with the drama that you presume NASCAR to have.
So you actually believe that you could get 42 drivers to agree to drive slower than another driver and prevent them the opportunity to share Victory Lane with their crew and fans, and to have the sizable purses afforded them on a weekly basis so that a predetermined winner could somehow add to the drama?

I'll hop down now.

If you do happen to catch a NASCAR race while having an open mind pay attention to the victorious driver as soon as he steps from the car. He wil thank God, the fans, and his crew, in that order, celebrate them, salute them, no chest pounding, no flipping off or disrespecting the crowd, no probation, no jail time, no illegitimate kids, it's all about respect and remembering where you came from, knowing that the folks in the bleachers are providing you the lifestyle you live. As long as the drivers continue to show me that appreciation I will continue to support them.

And last but not least, every NASCAR race starts with a prayer, the National Anthem, and a Military tribute or salute. Can't touch that.
