Help with painting frame
#11
In an industrial application they use a series of acid baths to clean the steel. The rinsing process is hot water that is blown off at the end of the acid dipping. Immediately following that it is put on the hanging line and sent through the process. It takes about an hour and a half for the process where I work. You can hit it with a hammer and not mar or chip the surface. If you hit it with a sharp object you can chip it and then it will begin breaking off in larger chunks but not easily. It is at the very least 5 times tougher than paint. It is awesome, and I don't think that it would be that big of a deal to build your own furnace to do it yourself. The temperature is under 400 degrees and it only needs to be in for about an hour. I have often thought that it wouldn't be that hard to build a furnace large enough to hold a frame and supply the heat with a wood burning stove or any heat source. It would take some creativity but I believe it could be done.
