Fly Racing Kinetic Helmet - Motorcycle Men's MX Helmets 2010

Thats the helmet I got but I have no idea if its snell approved. And if I should be concerned about it since it seems good enough to keep my noggin safe during my weekend warrior runs.

is there a way to find out if something is snell approved?

EDIT: Apparently i got the '09 version of that helmet
As was said if it does not say SNELL approved somewhere on the helmet, then it's not....

But I would not worry.....

A helmet made by FLY Racing has probably actually passed a DOT test. FLY is a reputable company, so I would think that they would not put junk out there. The DOT rating is not evil, the only problem is that you don't know for certain a given helmet was actually tested.... off-brands are sketchy for sure......

Someone like FLY Racing, HJC, MSR etc.... I've seen DOT helmet from them and I would think that those companies would not risk your head. These are off-road racing specialists for the most part and their entire reputation is based on what we dirt riders say about them.

A cheap helmet by FLY is probably as safe as their more expensive models. The difference in helmet prices really starts when exotic materials like carbon fiber, Kevlar, fiberglass etc....start making their way into the shell. Expensive helmets are lighter, cooler, and have more features......while cheaper ones are heavier, and generally made of poly blends, and often don't have higher end features..... But as far as safety goes, they all protect your head.....

We did go to Walmart and try on some helmets. To see what size we would wear. I figured it wouldn't matter. But, I guess it does. UGH! Ya'll are so helpful!

I just got a Fox helmet off of ATV Parts, ATV Tires, Dirt Bike Parts & Motocross Gear | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC , they have their closeout section. I paid $60 bucks!
