Default decision between 2 quads

im in a slight dilemma.

im currently looking at buying a 700xx for 5400 or a used kawasaki kfx400 for 3300.

now im a novice rider. and ive riden the kfx400 once that my friend has up and down the street. and ive riden a raptor 660 that my friend has for atleast 5 hours.

im trying to decide if the kfx will be sufficient enough or if i should just step it up and buy the 700xx

the money isnt a MAJOR issue, but 60-70$ a month vs 100-110$ is enough to make a hard decision.

the atv would be riden in trails and a rock quarry since i cannot find any legit places to ride in ct.

im also making a last minute decision since i would be buying either tomorrow (12/30/09)

which would i be better off with?

i would have to say the honda 700xx , yes it does cost more but at the same time ur paying for more luxery that u will enjoy wen ur riding trails, i also think that the honda has better suspension than the kawasaki, this will help in rocky and rough riding conditions. plus buying the honda u will then have more power than a 400. but i would say just buy watever u would feel comfortable with riding!

id say i have more experience riding the raptor 660 and i was barely full throttle.. it only seemed to help having that power going up hills and such.

i also dont have a deticated place to ride yet.

and the kawasaki is used and has nerf bars and upgraded clamp for handle bar

well for the hell of it, if the kawasaki has some aftermarket things on it, that u dont have to spend extra money on and put them on, i would say that the kawasaki would be better, because u will be spending lees money and with the money u save u can use sum to buy even more aftermerket stuff for the kawasaki!

well this all depends on how much do u usally ride because if u dont ride very often, i would say the kawasaki , even if u ride alot u can still get the kawasaki u would just save alot of money and if anything u would have this kawasaki paid off faster than the honda! i would say get the kawasaki!

Get the 700 if money means nothing. You can make a fast quad go slow but you cant make a slow quad go fast.LOL

The z400 is not slow by any means....... The 700xx is a bit faster, but for a beginner I don't think the difference would matter at all...

You are really talking about two different animals here......

First off one is IRS and one is SRA..... that gives them two totally different rides, it literally puts them in different classes.....

The z400 (kfx) is much more quick and nimble in the handling department. It was designed for motocross and because of that it has excellent suspension and handles very well. It also has a quick rev happy engine that works best in the open trails and MX tracks.

The 700xx is a trail machine with IRS and a big torque curve. It's heavier than the z400 and IRS makes it ride and handle totally different.

It is hard if not impossible to compare the two machines.....basing the choice on price alone is real tough. The 700xx should be worth more since it is a new design. But the z400 holds value as one of the best all-around machines of all time.

Price/value not considered I'd take the z400 every time......no comparison... But I do not like IRS......
