Who rides without a helmet?

I ride all winter without a helmet. Never really get going too fast, but I could get hit by a sled at high speed. Now that I can envision some clown on my machine, I'll be wearing my helmet some more....I think.

My bad. I admit it. It feels so good and so free. Mostly use the quad about the place, hauling stuff from here to there, plowing snow in winter. I just putt when I cruise on forest service road and rationalize that it is unnecessary to put on the helmet that I do own. I fondly remember the 20 years spent riding a motorcycle all over the states, the wind in my hair. Having said all that I do know better. As I said "My Bad"

LOL. That's a strange thought. Can you just imagine that bastard riding your rig....enjoying your equipment and having his way with your wife, wearing your work-gloves, rifling through your tools......The horrors.

So I was sitting at the dinner table, talking with my wife. I told her if I ever died suddenly, I want her to sell all my stuff as soon as possible.
She asked why I want want her to do something like that.
I told her that she was still fairly young, and I would imagine she would remarry. If she did, I didn't want some a-hole using all my stuff.
She asked, what makes you think I'd marry another a-hole?

I ride an Arctic Cat 650 H1 and i never wear a helmet, I don't drive the thing fast. I usually just get out and cruise on it or play in some mud. If i was riding my old race quad then i would probably be wearing a helmet.

This subject has been debated ad nauseum. I have found you will never change an idiot's opinion either way. As for the excuse I just get firewood, or ride in the back yard.. well look up your stats, that just happens to be the number one place injuries occur. I wear mine even when I load the machines. I have had tires slip on the ramps from wet grass and rolled one at about 2 miles per hour. It happens, and I am both a certified instructor, and a huge safety advocate. So don't think it won't happen to you. It isn't a question of IF, it is only WHEN.
