The Rubicon would be my choice for that task.

It is liquid cooled, has low range, and a hydrostatic transmission similar to what is found in small tractors.

The solid rear axle will ride rougher at higher speeds and does have a ground clearance penalty, but it won't have any body roll on off camber stuff, and it won't squat under the weight placed on the hitch (as it attaches to the axle and doesn't effect the suspension).

They are great for towing, dragging, plowing and that kind of thing.

It looks like the Rubicon is the best choice. I have a friend that just got a UTV. Having the back bed makes some sense because I will also need this for hauling wood. What are the benefits of the UTV and which would be best for my purpose? Thanks

A UTV has tons more space in the back over a quad. It can usually carry more weight and also tow more. The downside to UTVs is there size and mainly their width. There are trails in some parts of the country that are limited to 50" (like up here in parts of New England). UTVs are not the same as riding. It's more like you're driving a small truck than riding out in the open like a quad. If I had 50 acres and needed a machine for chores I'd probably get a Polaris Ranger. Seating for 3 and high weight capacity and towing numbers. Yamaha Rhinos are a little sportier as well as the Kawasaki Teryx. Polaris Ranger RZR is 50" for tight trails but you have about the same utility as a standard quad. Yamaha also makes a utility oriented machine called the Mule. Honda has the Big Red which is also utility oriented.

Pretty much all of the off road parks here mainly have trails for ATV's and Motorcycles, so for recreational use a Ute would be delegated to what are basically gravel roads inside the off road riding areas.

Though I'm a fan of Honda, I am not at all impressed by the big red.

Right now if I were to be looking at a ute, I think I'd check out the new offerings by BRP.

Forgot about the CanAm. Nasty fast. Limited supply right now as they just came out with them.
