Default Eton running issues

I just pickup a 2007 Eton Viper 70cc from an old friend of mine. I knew I would have to put in some work to make it run but now it seems that I am at a dead end.

I got the Viper to start(only with either tho) and it will run but for only about 10 seconds or so and it will then just die down and shut off.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about this problem?

if it is starting with ether you are having a fuel issue check for a fuel filter see if it is clogged. check the carb and make sure it is clean check fuel lines for dry rot (sucking air and not getting fuel pressure) this is where I would start

definitely follow his advice. it's rock solid. you might as well clean the carburetor. that is preventative maintenance. make sure the jets are CLEAN!!!!!!!they deliver fuel. when using ether, don't use a lot. be very conversative with it. glad you found that trick though. it led you to the fuel delivery problem.
