I just sold my 2007 Honda Rancher 420 ES 4x4 which I purchased new. It did not have power steering and the quad is small enough that it is not needed. It did ok on the trails, towed my log splitter and lawn cart around fine. I did not have a winch or plow on it, so I can't comment on that part of it. Overall it was a good quad and was trouble free for the 5 years I owned it.

As far as the $4k asking price, its a little on the high side. I sold mine for $3,200 and mine was in very good condition with low miles and low hours.

Now the bad: I am 6' 2" (and I weigh more than you) and although the quad was good overall, I was eating my knees. The overall size was just too small for my build. But I am also an experienced rider, so the 420 might just work for you.

Edit: One more thing to consider is a left over. There are tons of left overs and the discounts are huge. I just purchased a 2009 for $4,100 cheaper than a 2012 would've cost me. Shop your local Dealers as well as the web and the savings will be worth every penny.

 

$4000 for a used 420 rancher seems high to me also. I live in Canada where our used and new prices are much higher and there is a Mint shape 2007 450 Suzuki King Quad with 3000lb warn winch,25 Mudlits on aftermarket S&S rim selling for $4000 and that ATV has low range and diff lock,IRS and a full size chassis over a 420 Rancher.
