Anybody else loving the gas prices.

I live in Sault ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada (Border town) and our gas is $1.03 per litre. I went over the bridge to Sault ste. Marie, Michigan (Yes same city name, its weird) and even with our exchange rate of 30cents on the dollar the gas in Michigan was 63 cents Canadian a litre! It's 44 cents in US money.
But other then that it seems everyone is getting laid off over the low barrel prices. I think I was happier when it was $100 a barrel and everyone was working.

I don't remember the price the last time I gassed up but I know it worked out to less than 50 cents per liter. I bet that makes a lot of Europeans mad when they find out how low it is. Plus I get 10 cents per gallon off for every hundred dollars I spend on groceries. I use my card for my mom's groceries too and get 20 cents off the majority of the time. I love it.

even with the low oil prices the oil companies are still making good money... they just use the low prices as a excuse to lay people off so they can still make the same amount of money. the cost of locating, pumping, and refining oil had dropped due to technology and advances in the industry..

Filled the truck up Saturday for just over $32. Was only 20 gallons, 1.66 a gallon.
Bought some stuff at the grocery store, the store card now says I have a 60¢ discount there.

It's a $1.05 Canadian a litre for gas with a $37 barrel of oil but when it was $100 a barrel gas was only 0.20 cents more at $1.25 a litre.
We should be at 62 cents a litre by now.

Shipping costs. It's not easy getting to that part of VT. You kind of pay for the beautiful country up there.

Oil companies make about .10-.12 cents per gallon no matter how much they sell. The greater the number of gallons sold the greater the profit.
People in the West have been drilling on their own property because, at a $100 per barrel, they make a decent profit. OPEC didn't like that we were becoming number 1 in the world producing crude so they flooded the market more. It's led to low prices for at least the next 1/2 year or so. Good for us.

I like the lower gas prices just like anyone else. But if it goes back to $3 per gallon, I'm not going to change the way I do anything. Consumers have no control over gas prices. Generally, stations within a certain area all charge within a few cents per gallon no matter what the cost is. Its nice to have lower prices but its subject to change at any time and there's nothing we can do about it. We can't make our own gasoline, we have to buy it. Its the one product that the retailer can charge whatever they want for it and we will still buy it. Unless you're Amish, you need fuel and you will buy it whatever it costs. I'm glad I don't live near Chicago, prices are always much higher there, sometimes twice the price or more they are locally. I just looked at illinoisgasprices.com and the range is $1.42 per gallon in Decatur to up to $3.55 per gallon at a Mobil station in Chicago. That range in prices is insane. Local price for the day is $1.67 per gallon.
