Default LTZ 400 timing chain

I have a 2005ltz 400 that runs amazing I haven't had any problems until I tried to teach my friend how to drive a clutch on it and he would give it to much gas pop a little wheelie and stall after 15 minutes of doing that I told him we will just try again later but when I got home a strange ticking I had never heard before start ticking very loudly so I talked to a mechanic friend of mine and he said to change the oil so I did and tit seemed to help a lot but there is still a very small tick and it seems to go away when you gas it. Any thoughts suggestions is it a big problem? Should I take it to the shop? Thanks

Take a paper towel tube to use in place of an engine stethoscope and place it on the cylinder and also down on the clutch cover area to see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from. Noise might be clutch chatter as your friend seems like he's not too acquainted with manual clutches.Could have been ready to make noise and the friend may have helped it along a little quicker? Several videos on this if that's the problem area.

Then I'd check valve clearance and while there check for any cam chain stretch. Tappet clearance (cold) Intake: 0.10 - 0.20mm (0.0039 - 0.0079 in) Exhaust: 0.20 -0.30mm (0.0079 -0.0118 in) This is what I've found online, plus several videos on youtube on cam timing, etc, but it can't beat having the service manual for any machine on service and repairs. 2003 2008 Suzuki Z400 LTZ400 Service Repair Manual 2004 2005 2006 2007 08 07 06 | eBay Or hard copies are available on ebay for about 30 bucks.
