After raining most of the day it snowed. Maybe I'll get a pic when I take the cover off but there's nothing to see right now.

why would you oil your winch cable? Get rid of the cable and go with rope. I came 2 feet from being hit with a flying hook this weekend from a broken cable

The disadvantages of rope out-way the advantages for me.
I guess you never heard of hanging a damper on the winch cable.

Been 4x4 and quading for more years than I can remember. Yes I know how to dampen a winch line but that does not work every time.. have yet to find a disadvantage to rope

How about cost.
Add I already own a perfectly fine winch cable so why replace it?
Synthetic rope doesn't handle rock abrasion nearly as good as metal cable.

One of my friends oiled his winch cable and turned it into a dirt magnet. I don't know if I've ever oiled one of mine but if I did it was a long time ago. All I do is wind it up straight after I'm done plowing for the year.

I've been riding mine all winter. Took this a while back, but still have snow and it's still cold, spring? I did see a robin today, though.
