Help with ATV frame rust
#1
Hey guys, I have a 2002 Sportsman 700 that I got for free a couple years ago but had to rebuild the whole engine on. I should have tried to deal with the frame when i had everything off of it, but you know how it goes sometimes.
Anyhow, the whole quad, even before I got it, looks like its been sitting outside for last 10 years. The frame is pretty rusty up in the back, a lot of the paint is flaking off with rust underneath. I'm not looking to put a ton of time or money into stripping everything and repainting the whole frame, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good paints for for cleaning up the rusty areas and repainting them.
I'm not super invested in the ATV and it doesn't need to look perfect, I just don't want to see so much rust when i look at it. Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

POR15.. it is a epoxy based paint that prefers rust to be left in place and painted over it... I did it on my old toyota about 20 years ago and still looks good to this day.. Gets the odd touch up but not much. You can beat it with a hammer and it will not flake off... Its pretty expencive for a small can but compared to other paints that you would have to redo its cheaper in the long run... Don't get it on your skin ir it will be weeks before it comes off
