GUYS! sorry to break in on your thread.. but I'm trying to fix my Twister for the weekend and getting frustrated.

My drive belt broke on the engine and I've got the replacement in today and now can't figure out how to get it on..

The engines consists of a engine side and clutch side... the dealer mechanic said pull it off on the clutch side.. but the engine pully looks like it splits in two.. either way the problem I have is getting the bolt loose on either pully without the engine or transmission turning over, not much to hold on to there.

ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.. THANKS!!!

You need an impact gun.

The impact toll will loosen the bolt and the engine should not rotate very much. When you try it with a regualr socket the torque that you exert is working with the rotating assembly, the impact tool loosens the bolt with short bursts and doesn't give the engine a chance to turn. Local auto parts store sell electric impact tools for about $60. You don't need an air tool.

COOL.. I"m on it..

I have an electric and a air impact... that makes since about what you're saying with the torque...

So I'm assuming since you mentioned the engine turning.. I'm taking the engine side pully off not the clutch side pully?

Thanks for the advice.. .please enlighten me more..!

Okay... what a mess

I took the fly wheel off the engine side and of course the inside of the flywheel (pully) fell apart. After getting that back together.. I'm stuck now on how to stretch the belt over both pullys.

Any ideas there?
thanks again for the insight

I could scan a picture of my manual but I don't know if that would help.

How many hours on the cart before this happened?
I hadn't heard of any trouble with the transmissions before, but will get a backup belt pretty soon if it is a problem.

BTW: I rode with some Pierspeed buggies this weekend at Turkey Bay. I will probably post my views on this type of buggy when I get some more time if someone wants to know.

good luck
