Default Pricing and "freight" charge on new Rhino...

I went in to the dealer and they have a $380 "freight" charge. Is this similar to cars and their delivery fees, or is this a dealer trying to squeeze me? Also, how close to MSPR do people find most dealers to be? I am looking at an '07 Rhino DU edition. They didn't sound like they were going to budge, even if I had gone for an '06. They basically told me they sell all they get in. Big dealer, but had 3 in and 2 prowlers.

This is in the Pacific NW.

Our dealer doesn't budge much at all on the price for the latest/new models, or models that have new changes. They know that there's a lot of people out there that have to have the "newest or latest and greatest model", so they just sit tight on the cost. On these items, they make their best profit. As the months go on and the sales slow they'll lower their pricing. A better deal can almost always be had on the last years model..........

The dealer can add all kinds of profit in a sale with fee's. (Frieght, Prep, Set-up, Doc). don't let that bother you. Start off by telling your sales man you are only interested in talking "out the door prices ". How they get there dosn't matter. The OTD price of the vehicle will be based on consumer demand in your area.

I call all the dealers within 2 hours drive from my house and let them know I will only make the drive if they give me the best OTD price. It helps to ask for the sales manager when you call. Also check your local "Cycle Trader" for some advertised sales.

I purchased my Rhino out of state for $8500 and had it shipped for $500. In town the best price I found was $10,300 OTD.

Damn, that is an amazing price. Where did you get it. I don't mind having one shipped for a price like that.

that 10300 otd includes tax and license , 8500 plus 500 shipping =9000 then you need to add t&l on top of that, really not much of a saving,

Currently I am buying in Oregon, so there is no sales tax. And I will just be using this on my own land, so there is no licensing. Cash out the door and into my back yard.

That is correct on the tax and lisc it would be extra and the price varies by state. In AZ I paid under $500 for the tax and lisn. Many do as was suggested and don't register it until they have to sell it. I Puchased 5 total and contracted a 18 wheeler to drive them from OK. I sold all five to freinds and neighbors at my cost. It was not just the price it was a 3 month wait that made me look to the surrounding states.

Dealers in the colder states have thier sales drop off in the winter months and some whole sale them on EBAY to keep there numbers up.

Good Luck!
