Default Carter Talon CVT belt problem

We have a Carter Talon GX150IIR. I have replaced the CVT drive belt 3 times in the last month. It runs fine for about a week then somehow the belt is getting chewed up. The clutch assembly looks fine and I can't figure out what's happening to the belt. I have researched the belt on several sites to ensure I'm getting the right length and am fairly positive it's the right size. Any ideas what could be the problem.

Thank you,
Shane

How are you replacing the belt? Are you taking the variator off to make sure the rollers haven't fallen out of place?

Yes, I actually replaced the whole assembly the first time. I really feel like the belt is to short even though every site says it's the right one. I have to squeeze the clutch together to get the belt to fit. I thought the belt should be loose fitting.

Hmmmm. Where are you getting your belts? Are they all the same brand? To install the belt, I would have the outer half of the variator off. Put the belt in the clutch then put the belt over the variator shaft (actually the crankshaft). Then I would squeeze the clutch a little bit and tuck the belt down so that the belt is loose on the variator side. Then, I would slide the outer half of the variator back on making sure it doesn't pinch the belt. Torque the variator nut. Then, I'd put the rear on jack stands and run the motor just to watch the belt go through the paces making sure all is in working order before putting the CVT cover back on.

Here's a trusted dealer for buggy parts. Also shows the size the belt you need.
