I have this old .22 here, I haven't fired it in atleast 6 years maybe more.

Sorry for the crappy pic, but what would be the best way to clean the barrel? Thanks!

I'd get some foaming solvent. Stand the gun up and fill it until foam starts coming out the top. Let it set for awhile and then tackle it with a bronze bore brush.

Use CLP products if you can (black can with yellow writing)

They make a bore foam cleaner and it has instructions on it. The bore foam is an extensive deep clean that removes copper fouling. If you want to just give it a regular bore cleaning use a bore snake or nylon brush made for 22lr, soak it with CLP and run it through a few times. If your shooting around 1" groups or better at 50yds you can consider it good. IF your shooting inconsistant I would try the foam cleaners. Note: I prefer nylon brushes because they are easier on your bbl...

CLP stands for clean, lubricate, protect. Its all you need for lube unless you want to get some gun oil for the bolt, i like slick2000 but hopps will work fine. But keep in mind its not needed, CLP is all the military uses for lube on their M16's, M4's etc

good luck

If you can use or get a barrel snake that allows you to scrub the barrel from the breach. This makes it so any gunk from the barrel does not end up in the action.

The standard cleaning kits have a cleaning rod that people feed down the barrel from the muzzle and and crap that gets scrubbed out of the barrel ends up in the action of the gun. IT works but then you have to clean the action of the gun as well.

agreed/ I use Bore Snake for all my guns too. I use the nylon brushes for scrubbing out copper fouling after applying foam cleaner. Bore Snake is all you need in most situations. Always good to get a chamber mop too but with this 22 thats probably not necesary

+10 on the bore snake. In a modern standard rifle, its all you need. An AR type is a little more detailed, and they need to be taken apart now and again for a good cleaning and lube.
