Default Rancher engine problem HELP!!!

I have a 2000 Rancher ES 4x4 and the engine seems to be messed up it used to have white smoke comming out of the pipe, but now it is hard to start and it will only go about 5mph and it will sometimes just die on me, does anybody know whats wrong with it, andhow to fix it. I think it might be messed up becouse I got water down the muffler when I was riding in a river, but i'm not sure

there. You should change your oil and filter anyway.

Next, it is possibly you got water in the gas, thus replace your gas.

Check to make sure your air filter is clean and there is no water in the air box.

Finally, if all else fails it is possible that you got debris in your carb, which is effecting the effectiveness of your jets and thus fuel flow. In this case have your carb rebuilt/cleaned.

When was the last time you replaced your spark plug if > 1 year then replace your spark plug.

Let us know the outcome.

Let me try that again:

First, check your oil, make sure its not creamy or too 'liquidy' if it is, you got water in there. You should change your oil and filter anyway.

Next, it is possibly you got water in the gas, thus replace your gas.

Check to make sure your air filter is clean and there is no water in the air box.

When was the last time you replaced your spark plug if > 1 year then replace your spark plug.
