300ex runs hot!!

when i wash my quad after i ride it runs way hotter than my friends 250x. I dont know why. Does anyboday have any ideas??

Are you talking about when the water hits the engine you see more steam? Since both machines are air cooled and your engine is larger, one would assume that your machine would run a little hotter. Besides that, here are a few other potentials - spark plug wrong heat range - oil filter stopped up and slowing oil down - oil too thick for application (maybe 20-50w) - spark plug over or under tightened (really) - maybe put a pipe on or remove air box lid and did not change jetting and developing a lean condition - leaky head gasket - tank bag that sags down near the cylinder that slowly creates more heat. These are just a few problems that come to mind. Hope this helps!
