I just installed a Renthal bar, but don't have a service manual yet for my 400EX. Can someone give me the torque spec for the bolts on the mounting clamps? TIA!

I did noy know that we used a torque on the bars. Just lock tight the front bolts as tight as you can get them. Then tighten the back ones up. I am sure there is a spec but, maybe only one or two people use it. They are 10mm bolts and most 10's get about 30 ft/lps.

many 250r's

The only torque specs the factory manual gives are for the two clamp bolts that attatch to steering stem-29 lbf.ft.As for the bar clamp bolts tighten front bolts tight first then rears.I would guess appx 20lbf.ft should be suffecient.

WHOA! LET GO OF THAT BREAKER BAR & SOCKET! hopefully you haven't done anything drastic yet.

Renthal recommends 17, that's seventeen, ft lbs of torque on their bars. Set torque wrench at 1/2 the torque and after tightening to that reset to 17 and re-torque. Torqueing over specs can weaken and damage the bars, being alloy.
