cr500 in 400ex?
#1
Would it be possible to put a cr500 engine in a 400ex chasis? If I were to put some super fast engine in my bike that's what it would be...god knows that engine has some potential! Why hasn't anyone done that yet???

People have, look on ebay, some guy has a pipe and kickstarter for sale for this conversion. It is not a good idea, it will rattle your teeth lose, and be a bear to ride. My friend had a 250r/500r and it sucks. Its fast, but really unreliable, always breaking welds, ect. Ask anyone who has one, or has ridden one. Better yet ask the guy on Ebay why he is selling his parts. I don't know , but I will bet its because it sucks to ride.

i believe the 500R is not counter balanced as are many of the 250 bikes which rattle your brains out but they also make more power because of this. dont quote me on that.

no i don't think it is but i believe (with some $$$) you could take a good deal of the vibration out. Oh well...i was just sort of wondering because my friend blew his engine and it would be cool to put a 500 two-stroke in it. I figured it would be unreliable. Thanks

My best friend had one. It sucked. It vibrated so bad, my *** always slide off the seat. My hands
felt like they were bruised the next day. And you will NEVER & I mean NEVER get the vibration out.
He tried every trick and it didn't work.

dont know about unreliable as much as unpractical. what did he do to the engine? if the damage can be machined out or replaced just look into a big bore kit or something along those lines. you can make a high compression high flowing 4 stroke go pretty damn good.
