Default Will Rincon fit in Z71?

Schef, with your mud tires on, how much clearance do you feel you have between the Rincon and the back glass. It is hard to tell from your pictures. Is it close enough that if you hit a large bump the shocks on the Rincon would conpress enough to hit the glass? Maybe you can get some more pictures soon. Did you see my post about my test ride last Sat.? I am very concerned about the brakes. I had a hard time making it slow down much less being about to lock the real wheels. A spoke to a different dealer and he seemed to think there mush have been something wrong even though it was a new bike.

Duramax, I think I responded the brake thing already (may on ATV Outdoors?? :/ who knows.. oh well) but I will again. The brakes sound like they are out of adjustment. No question. You should be able to (not that you would really want to) lock the rear up pretty easily. Mine actually lock up a little too often. I have toned them down a little since I first picked up from a dealer. I say you go down to the dealership that you test drove the machine at and adjust the brakes for them. Click Here to see the diagram of the rear caliper adjustment (that's what you will want to go after since both the pedal and bar levers don't work). It says to pull the tire off... no need for that. Simply take a par of pliers with you, reach under the machine and give the adjustment a few turns. You will see the brakes come to life. If that doesn't work, then find a different Rincon to buy! As for the ramps and the bigger tires. My set of ITP 589's fits snuggly with the gate up. I have to slam it in, but it does fit. As for the Rincon hitting the glass, that is impossible (I think so anyway). Here is why. The wooden planks hold the front tires in place and add a gap between the quad and the window. Here is a better view of the gap (I will add that to my how to on ATV Outdoors as well). This may not look like a big gap, but it would be hard to bridge, regardless of how hard you stopped. I say this because the tires would either have to deflate completely to allow the quad to come forward or the machine's rear end would have to come up in order for the glass to be impacted. The Rincon cannot however come up because the rear gate acts as a wedge... remember the rear wheel is pretty much stuck in a corner. So the only way the rear could come up is if the gate opened, you hit the brakes incredibly hard which caused the rear to jump at least 15" off the bed. I don't see that one happening. As for the shocks being depressed enough, I doubt that one as well. I strap the Rincon down in the front for extended trips. I do this by sitting on the front rack and ratcheting. I am 215 pounds and I cannot depress the front shocks enough to come within threatening distance of the glass. It would again take a very hard bump to bring the front of the Rincon into the glass. Now I guess it COULD happen, and that's why:

is below my how to on ATV Outdoors. While it may happen (I highly doubt it) I still prefer replacing a broken rear window instead of buying a trailer.

I will also try to take some pics of the Rincon with the 589's on while loaded, but the Rinny is a little bruised up at the moment (I have parts coming in Thursday to patch it back up from my tumble).

Thanks Schef. After I made the post I realized you had already addressed the issue. And thanks for the adjusting info. I went to another dealer today and even though I didn't get to drive it, it was sitting outside on a slant and i nugged it a couple of times. If felt a lot better than the one I rode. I also appreciate the picture. It is a little easier to see the clearance. It's strange that I can call dealers in other states and get a OTD price and not one of the ones around here will even come close to it. The one today tried to tell me that it was inpossible because it was below their cost of around $6900 - $7000. Right! In all fairness to the Kawasaki dealer in Irving, he sell his P700s for $6218 out the door not counting sales tax. All of the others I have been to in the Dallas area are sticking to list price around $7100. I have looked at the Prairies and Grizzley's but keep coming back to the Rincon. I hope to take one of the out of state guys up on his offer by Friday and see if there really are not hidden costs. Maybe the big city is not a good place for a bargin because there is so many people. The place today finally said they would take $7100 for a left over '03 Rincon and $7500 for an '04. Such a deal...

The dealer in Oklahoma still has 03's at $5999 plus sales tax.But when I bought mine the first thing out of his mouth was "Do you have a farm card?".You will save about $480 in sales tax if you(or someone you know)has one.No other charges I gave him a check for $6000 and he gave me back $1.00.You could get lucky and have him sell you a 2004 at that price. You do remember the dealer in Okla.
Later Okie

Yes, it was Bartlesville Cycle Sports. That is the price he gave me on an '03 or an '04 for $600 more.

Check out Abernathy's in Union City Tenn. I paid 5699 OTD for an 03 Rincon. Oh, I did have to pay 150 for paperwork, but that was because I was getting a Honda loan. If you pay cash, you don't even have that added expense. The deal I got was a special to get rid of back stock. They still have a bunch of 03's. They are the largest Honda dealer in the Country. I found them on ATVTraderonline.com. It was a sweet deal. I had to drive 12 hours to get it but worth the time, I saved 1200 bucks over the dealers here in NC.
