hi all my recon has been doin this forever ever since ive had and when the owner bought it new when your going full ***** all the way and let off the throttle it backfires like hell im mean like a .22 going off does it all the time but i was wondering if anybody has had that problem or has fixed it or not i want it fixed so i dont scar the crap out of the other riders i ride with thanks

Hey
I have a 1998 Recon and I know that when I let off the trottle it does kind off make a backfire sound
but not as loud as how you are describing it.

you may be hitting your revlimter while going ***** to the Walls, and when you let off, it allows extra gas in to the combustion chamber to be fired out. Mine did, as does a friends, so it's the bike.

Recondude,
I have the same situation on my Warrior. I am jetted just right and have fiddled with the air screw both ways but it still backfires when I'm on the gas and chop the throttle.
I have a theory as to why this occurs: when I am on the gas & chop the throttle, there's a lot uf unburned fuel in the system & it is blown out the exhaust into my Supertrapp where it explodes big time. Just a theory, if anyone can prove me wrong, I'll stand corrected

I have a 98 recon and mine was starting to do that too, set the valves it really helps!

yeah i called my dealer a while back and they said set the vavles but how do you do that i know the measurments and everything but i really dont know how to do that could you help me out a bit?
