Does anyone know a better bearing setup for the front of a Honda Foreman? My friend has already replaced them twice in last eight months. It seems that the Honda bearings cannot handle a big tire.

try using polaris bearings (there in an oilbath)they seem to last much longer than Honda maintenace free sealed bearings ie:non greasable.

I don't think the cause for the bearing failures on your friend's Foreman is caused by the excessive loading placed on them by oversize tires. If this were the case, with the number of Foremans out there running large aftermarket tires, you would expect to hear of MANY more Foreman bearing problems. Your friend's bearing problems are more likely due to contamination (e.g. mud, water) and the solution may be to ensure that the bearings are properly sealed. Just a thought.

P.S. Do you have any pics of that Samurai running the 40" Boggers.

Well the main problem is that when the mud and water gets in, there is no easy way to get it out. The only way to get the mud and water out is to be disassemble the front end all the time. I was just wondering if anybody out there knows of an easier way?

P.S. Texridr if you want to see some pictures of the Samuria goto www.bncoffroad.com and go into the car crush section and look at years 1998 and 2000. The gray Samuria in 1998 was the first one that I built, the white one in 2000 is my new one. Being from Seabrook you may have seen it driving around before or at Crystal Beach on holiday weekends.

I had to replace 2 sets of front bearing in a year on my '93 TRX300FW...OUCH!!! at $50.00 per bearing (times 4).
The second time I replaced all of the seals in the hub (steering knuckle) and even the brake drum lip seals......when I got rid of her she was working on her 3rd set.....
p.s. I got the job down to about 1.5 hours from start to finish and I found a much cheaper NSK bearing from a local bearing supplier...takes a couple of days to get it in...Not my problem anymore.
