my 01 400ex is squeaking, mabey its the pistons? i am afraid to go to far becaise of it. any advice

 

rubber bushings on the shocks dont worry ride like hell

 

Hey Phatdave i got an 03 400ex and it does the same thing. I agree with predator. Next time you are at your local shop ask them what you can spray on there to make them stop and they will hook you up. I have also heard that some bolt or something or another maybe what is doing it. But i would be my last 5$ it is the shocks.

 

even though it is in perfect tune with the engine running?

 

....what pistons were u referring to? my brothers does the same thing, put some grease on the a-arm and shock bushings.

 

i would suggest selling it and getting a z/kfx 400 but thats just IMO

 

my 400ex was doing the same thing to..........

try spraying a little lithium grease on the rubber bushings........

it worked for me

 

my stering is really squeaky, and now my shocks, i just spray some wd40 on them and it goes away for a little while.

 

wd 40 is a bad idea on bushings/seals etc....it tends to eat them...

 

When does is squeak? 400ex's only have one pistion! and they don't squeak! Push down on the front and if it squeaks it your suspention. Mine does it after it sits for a couple weeks. Don't worry about it. It will go away after you ride it some. If it bothers you that bad you can spray some type of lube up under the black plastic.

If it squeaks when you turn the handlebars you need to take off the plastic and lub the plastic bushing that is on top of the stearing stem. It is really easy to do. A temporary fix is to spray some lube down on it.
