I just recently got a 2000 400EX. It has a few mods already done to it. K&N filter, jet kit and a White Brothers muffler. I ran it at a 1/8 mile drag strip and gotit to a 10.58 at 60mph. I held it past the finish line while racing a friend and he said it got up to between 65-70mph. Not to bad, but I want it faster. I've been looking around the net and I found a few things. One thing that lets the engine rev 2000 rpm's higher over stock, camshaft, big bore kit and (one thing that way out of reach right now) a turbo kit. What would you guys recommend. I thought about porting and polishing the head too.

 

If dragging is going to be your thing you best bet is to sell the 400ex and build up a banshee, raptor or DS. If the long run it will end up costing you much less.


The 400ex is a great machine but a drag racer it is not.

 

If you want more speed up you front sproket like to 17 teeth. do you realizle that the turbo kit is around $4,000

Naw, I love riding trails and jumping stuff with it, I just want it faster. I just took it to the dragstrip to see how fast it was, that's all. If I up the teeth count up front, won't it make it sluggish on takeoff?
