I'd really be interested in a 600-750 cc Quad, with fat boy seating and lots of suspension. That would really be cool.
I bet any 450 Honda produces will be sweet, even if it's made by somebody else, ( as posted on some other threads), but that size bike doesn't do it for me..

Honda is just trying to spoil some of Yamaha sales again with a friggin cartoon of an ATV.
1998: Yamaha releases the YZ400F fourstroke dirtbike onto the market (no pre-hype)
1999: Honda announces the CRF450 and sends press releases with actual pix.
2001 Yamaha releases the YZ250F onto the market (no pre-hype)
2002: Honda finally releases the CRF450F.
2001: Honda announces the CRF250 and sends press releases with actual pix.
2003: Second generation of YZ450F & 250F released.
2003: 2004 model YFZ450F release (no pre-hype photos or cartoons).
2003: Honda sends out cartoons pictures of a 450 quad
2003: CRF250 still waiting to be released....possibly January '04.
Based on recent history, I wouldn't hold my breath for this ATV. As long as dealers are whoring out new 400EXs by the thousands for $4850. Why would Honda be in a big hurry to release anything else. They are still makin money.

At least this time they will only be a few months behind instead of a few years.
Yamaha has done a fantastic job bringing high performance models to the market first. Quads, PWC, Sportbikes, dirtbikes, they have had a string of successes.
What you said although true, is water under the bridge. The MX crowd voted the CRF450 the top bike in 2003 since it out sold all other off-road bikes and sold more than any other model in the last decade. For 04, the big four will all have 250f's offered and I'll lay money that the Kawa-zuki is the best bike.

Here is the problem in my opnion.
If this turns out to be a CRF450 motor in a 400ex frame with different plastic and CR linkage what justifies a 7k to 8k price tag? I have a 400ex and the frames and swing arms are prone to cracking under even mild mx racing circumstances. I don't know of a lot of Yamaha frame problems and whether or not they are great shocks I'm sure the YFZ-450 shocks are better than my 400ex stock shocks. If I can swap out my Elkas that's cool but I probably won't be able to swap out the rear shock and I would still have to deal with the frame and swing arm. If it's a 400ex copy frame made out of tougher material like 4130 chromoly steel that's another story all together but even then for 7 - 8k I don't want stock 400ex style shocks. At that price Yamaha is offering more for your money IF it's a 450-ized 400ex.

Lets hope it is totally redesigned. If it is to compete with a yfz, or a 250R, it has to be.
It would suck for honda if their new bike could be beaten by one they produced in 1985... I say ditch the damn battery and reverse. That $hit is for chicks. Put a nice aluminum frame under there. - My $.02...
Now for my $.04 -
Hell - make it a trike. That would keep those damn pu$$y quad guys away! LOL!
