Your right, maybe I don't use my brakes as much as the person that posted the original question, but regardless I have the same problem, and I don't think in my case it can be break pad wear. New brake pads are only about 1/8th inch thick. If you've looked at the park brake mechanism on the caliper, you would see that it moves the bolt about 1/16th of an inch when the park brake is engaged. That means that for it to function before the ride, and then not function after the ride, you would have to wear about half your brake pad away during that ride. Does that sound logical? Not to me.
P.S. I didn't say they are doing 6 hr MXs anywhere. It was just an example to illustrate that even on the longest hardest ride, you still wouldn't cause that much brake pad wear.
