Default bye-bye 2-strokes!

why has this post turned into another 2 v 4 stroke war

when the fundamental issue is

YOUR FREEDOMS ARE BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU,,

but of course if your into 4 stokes that doesnt concern you,

when the eco crew have finished bitching about 2 strokes and wiped them of the land they will start to bitch about other aspects of what your atv does to damage the environment,

and ultimately you wont be riding them anywhere,

in the uk there are many sports cars that are no longer in production because they cant make them meet the emissions standards and still get the perfomance out of them to call them "sports cars"

so please ponder that 1 while your dreaming about the ultimat 4 stroke performance,

in not to many years your gona have catalitic converters and engines burning so lean to meet the emmisions you will be more bothered about improving life span than performance

this is in no way an attack on the four strokers cos your all being screwed, some of you know it (2 strokers)the rest dont care yet!

hate to jump in the middle of things, but here it goes. IMO it's all about money. imagine you're a atv company (pick your own, i'm not even going there). would you rather spend countless dollars defending yourself from every enviromental group out there. even small groups can cost a company big bucks to defend itself (just ask a lawyer). or do you put that money into something a little less controversial, and pocket some change, maybe r&d something new instead. i don't think 2 strokes will ever go away, just fewer people selling them. went to my dealer (atv) yesterday for parts and asked what happened to the TB400. he gave "his opinion" and said that this is one reason why they stopped it. look for the 250 to be gone in 2006. again, just his opinion so don't ask for proof or any other of that bs. glad i got my 2 stroke when i did. now if the epa ***** come after my charcoal grill, i'm gonna smack 'em with a big stake, um i mean steak.

Yep HA2... that's it... We'll just have to open up a can a' whoop a$$ on a few new TRX450R's..

The YFZ's aren't all that, I raced one (FOB - fresh off the boat - completely stock) at pismo last weekend... I got beat - but the guy had paddles, and I had turf tamers. It was maybe three bike lengths - consistently. He couldn't believe it - my puny little 1985 $1750 bike could keep up. I told him he should sell his piece of four stroke and get a 250R, then take the money left over and buy another 250R for his wife.

Besides - those damn big bores are too damn loud. I'd much rather hear a small 250cc two stroke at 2 in the morning than a loud obnoxious 450 four stroke.

That loud obnoxious sound, sounds awsome!! at least 4 strokes don't smell bad, and they don't burn 20 gallons of gas in one day!!!!
That was what I have to say, sorry if it makes you mad.......

20 gallons of gas in one day?

All i can say is my kx125 hardly uses any gas on the other hand my 300ex (282cc) uses 2.5 times more on the same ride. why? My kx is stock. but 250cc four strokes are supposed to be = to 125cc two strokes in power output. seems like the kx is better on gas and still makes more HP than my 300ex.

I will admit once you go mod'n a 2 stroke they will eat gas. I have a 38mm carb on my Q racer and it will eat 3 gallons in 6 hours.
