Default 300ex is having some problems now

Hey i got a 300ex used and it was working fine, now its having problems(it will start and run and all), but when i give it gas sometimes it will backfire, and when i start it up it smells like oil is burning a little and it comes up through my fenders(would that be caused from the piston ring possibly)? My timing belt is also lose, and its adjuster is broke, just gotta find a place that sells them anyone know of any?

I think I would get that fixed and see what happens.(BTW it's a chain not a belt) and you could try servicehonda for the parts you need.

Replace the timing chain tensioner, it the chain is still too loose then replace the chain and time it correctly, problem should be solved.

Chain sounds loose and that means it is out of time. If it is out of time it will run like poo!

You say "it" comes up through your fenders. Do you mean smoke? If so you have a oil leak that is dripping on the head pipe, fix that!

Replace the tensioner and cam chain to be on the safe side. Then adjust the valves.

A loose cam chain will cause major damage when your timing jumps. then when your valve smashes the piston just hope the cylinder can be saved
