Default Neutral Light

The neutral light on my wifes 98 300ex sometimes will not come on even though it is in neutral. If the light doesn't come on, it won't let you start it. I'm assuming that there is a switch somewhere that is either dirty or going bad. It does it more frequently all the time. Then after a while, it will work and it's fine. I don't want her stranded someplace but I don't have a book on it or don't see it anywhere down by the shifter. Any body have some help here or advice, I'd appreciate it very much..Thxx..Dean

Your wife won't get stranded b/c of a bad light, like manual said it can still be started by a simple pull of the clutch while it's in gear.
