I am going to sell my 300ex and get a Rancher 4x4 ES the reason why is all my buddies are getting rid of their fast bikes and getting 4x4's also i am going to start doing some camping and i need something to haul my gear, also i love playing in the mud. I am just wondering how everbody likes the ES? and if the Rancher is easy on gas? and if there is any regrets on anyone's racher? thanks

No regrets! We have been on 6 hour rides which we went about 55 miles. Much off our trail riding is slow & technical 5-8 mph.
The 4x4 Rancher gets around 25 mpg. 38 hours & 305 miles & not ONE problems, well except a few scratches I put on it going over small trees.
The new front end works like a charm. This past weekend while riding in the muddy trails, my front wheel came off the ground, & just like the HOnda advertisement says the other wheel pulled.
I have a red one but to me the orange looks REALLY cool.
Good luck

Oh yeah, I forget. The ES is wonderful. Sometimes I trade off with my wife, I like her Recon, but I have gotten use to shifting with a touch of a button. The ES is worth the $200 additional over the S model. You get the electric shift tranny, full floor board (they work really well keeping the mud off0 & the cool LCD.
