For Immediate Release

Honda Returns To ATV Racing With Tim Farr and the TRX450R

Las Vegas, NV - American Honda announced today at its annual dealer convention in Las Vegas, that the company will return to full-time ATV racing with champion racer Tim Farr and the new TRX450R.

"We are excited to return to ATV racing," said Ray Blank, Honda's Motorcycle Division Vice President. "Racing is part of Honda's DNA, so it's only natural we make a return to ATV racing with the TRX450R. Tim is the perfect choice for us. He has been racing and winning on Hondas for years. We are glad to have him as part of Team Honda."

Farr, who has won numerous titles aboard the now legendary TRX250R, will be contesting the Clear Channel/SFX Pro Quad Stadium Series, ATVA MX Series and the ATVA TT Series aboard the new TRX450R.

"The TRX450R is the best ATV I've ridden in my career," said Farr. "I can't wait to start competing and winning on it. It's awesome to have Honda get back into ATV racing."

In addition to the series mentioned above, look for Farr to be competing on the TRX450R in the 2003 Baja 1000.

They are going to desert endurance race this thing! Alright!! That means they have GREAT CONFIDENCE IN THE MACHINES DURABILITY. This is the greatest news I have heard in years! But, has Farr ever desert raced before?? Nobody runs a pit better than Honda.

Baja 1000, Nov. 20-23.

although the trx 450r looks like a 400ex frame with a 450 motor stuffed in it and i'm a little disappointed in the quad compared to the yzf450, it still is a leap forward by them sponsering tim farr. my hats off to honda for surporting atv racing again. is it a full honda ride or here's a 6500 machine and wish you well deal?

i was comparing the motorcycle 450 motor to the atv 450 motor and this is what i found.

motorcycle bore and stroke 96mm by 62.1. atv motor is 94mm by 64

carb is a keihin 40 mm flat side carb is a keihin 42 mm with tps sensor

compresssion ratio is 12 to 1 compression ratio is 10 to 1

maybe some other stuff, but i hope honda offers a factory performance upgrade with a 40 mm flat side carb, higher compression piston and race pipe. as far as the no-electric start goes, i prefer them, but i'm not going to bitch about it because this is an R model. if you want and electric start then by an ex model. nobody that has a 250r is bitching about an electric starter. if the motorcycle guys can kick theres over then so can we.
