I know the 300ex's reverse is hard to use, but is it actually on the left side of the machine? Any good aftermarket parts for the reverse?

 

No, its only hard to use the first few times you use it, and it is on the left side, but once you get used to it, you can use the heel of your foot to lift and lower the lever on the left side and you can acctually get faster at switching in and out of reverse.
