There is a zilla engine ported/polished and just rebuilt for $900 in the paper. Im wondering if this would be smart to put in a 300ex and if i would need to put in a new tranny, and what other modifications i would have to make. (debating between a few choices right now). What would be the smartest in your opinions?- Raptor, boring out my 300ex engine, or putting in a zilla engine if possible?

 

you'd prolly have to get a new frame and the engine would vibrate like a... lot. If you want the zilla engine I'd say buy a zilla'.

 

it's counterbalanced so vibration should not be a problem assuming that your frame modifying skills are up to the task. but why drop it in a 300EX? what does it have going for it?

if I were you, I'd drop that 300EX like a bad habit. if you want to swap engines, get an LT250R or even a 230 (if you have a deathwish) and drop that quadzilla motor in it. i think you'd be a lot happier doing that then screwing around with something not worth your time.

that's a big step (financial and otherwise) from a 250R to a Raptor. i don't think you know what you're looking for, man. what kind of riding/racing do you do? Are you mechanically inclined enough to upkeep a 250R? what things are most important to you in a quad?

 

well right now im leaning more towards the raptor, but the downside on the raptors at the dealership of what ive mainly noticed is there tippy. Im partly looking into the 250R but not sure if i want a 2 stroke. I don't plan on doing track racing so im heading more towards the raptor. I road a friends banshee, but I really didn't care for it over some of the quads i have tried.

So what would your advice be on a good trail riding quad, and maby a litle drag racing that isn't a 2 stroke that i can find for around 3000-4000 used, and keep up with z400's, and banshee?

 

A slightly hopped up 400EX I guess. either that or a scrambler 500 or something. i don't really know, I'm not a trail rider-type guy.
