Default Powdercoating.. Any regrets?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if some of you who have had powdercoating done are happy with it in the long run. I have a friend who had the frame to his bike powdercoated and he says he regrets it because when it starts to chip you can't re-paint. How tough is this stuff really? My roomate starts work at a company next week that offers powdercoating and I was thinking if I could get a break in price then why not do the frames on my bikes. Should I do it or just paint them? I would really appreciate any input thanks!

I'd imagine you'd regret it if you didnt do it.

I guess the main advantage to powder coat is it is excellent bond to the base material. Even if you do get a chip that exposes the metal underneath it wont start rusting and lifting like paint will do. And once something is coated it can be reaplied right over the first coat without having to strip the part again. You can also touch up any imperfections or scratches with regular paint and it will hold very good. If you are going to take the time to tear your wheeler apart doesnt it make sense to give it the finish it deserves. Ive got a grab bar in front of me that I did 6 years ago and it still looks great and it has a bunch of scratches in it but they dont go all the way through the powder so you cant even tell they are there without looking closely. If you get really high estimates on your parts give me a pm . I have a coater that gives me great deals and does outstanding work.

One negative is that it fills in the VIN. The Local BLM is going after the riders. Hard to say a quad is yours without
proof
