Default need advice on an 87 foreman

I recently bought a camp in Maine and all my buddies up there have 4x4 atv's. I really don't have the cash for one right now, but my neighbor just offered me his 87 foreman for $300. It needs new rear bearings and brake work. The engine runs great and it has practically new tires.
Am I crazy if i pass this offer up? what kind of cash am I looking at for rear end and brake work?

any input would be a big help.
thanks!

Yes you are crazy to pass that up. If all it needs is rear bearings and rear brakes, you are only looking at putting about another $500 at the most into it if you do it yourself. Price out the parts you need first if you are unsure.and don't forget seals for the axle tube and brake housing. Those will all need to be changed too.
