Honda ATV's.....Past, Present and Future of Big Red.
#1
Hello everyone. I would like to start a discussion on where you think Honda ATV's will be heading in the next few years.
Sport Quads: With the resent introduction of the DS650 and Yamaha Raptor. The "Sport" world has been rocked with these 2 large displacement machines. But is bigger...better? Following the history of Honda as a corperation. Their automobiles, lawn products, motorcycles, etc. Always have smaller displacement engines, but have other features that the competition doesen't have. Bringing more "firsts" into the industry. American manufactures, wheather it be autos, motorcycles, etc, tend to think bigger is better in the engine deptment. But Japanesse company's try to improve on the size at hand.
So what does this mean for future Honda Sport Quads?
I believe that Honda's next "sport" quad will also have a smaller displacement engine. But have other features that make up for it.
If 4-stroke, I believe it will be around 500cc with either fuel-injection or dual-overhead cams.
If 2-stroke, it will be the direct-injection 400cc clean burning engine that Honda resently put a patton on.
Either way, more HP with a great chassis to compete with.
Utility Quads: I believe Honda will put the new "Hondamatic" tranny in a few more quads. Maybe the Rancher? Maybe a two-wheel drive Rubicon? Improvements may also be made on the Rubicon after it see's some time in the field.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents. What do you expect too see?
