On saturday my 400EX blew a fuse and the starter quit working. I replaced the fuse and the starter worked thrice and blew another fuse. That was the last of my fuses so my friends had to push start me all day. I think it's because the starter was overheating. What do you think?

P.S. It's still under warranty

Take it to the dealer and let them play with it.

Good luck!!My buddies 99 400ex blows fuses whenever it wants (sometimes several fuses back to back-hot or cold, sometimes it doesnt blow them for several rides, really intermittent)when it has White bros rev box on it.Has never blown a fuse with stock cdi box.We have checked all connections and plugs and all look good.He had WB box replaced with new one and still has same problem occasionally. So we keep his stock rev unit and spare fuses in tool tube just in case it acts up.Let me know what you find from dealer.

I have a 00 400EX with the White Bros rev box and it's never had any problems. It must be a 99 thing. As for push starting: Everybody complain to Honda about not installing a backup kickstarter.

Check to see if your battery terminals are tight. Had a friend with the same problem. Tightened battery screws and took care of problem.

I wasn't aware that the 400EX had a fuse? I looked for one when installing my street legal lighting. Where is it?

Just in front of your battery. You have to take a small cover off to access it, I believe?.

okay. i am really familiar with this prob. when i first got mine i lost my key and didnt feel like lookin fer it so i tried hot-wiring it like you can the 300EXs. well, it turns out there are a few more wires coming from the key on the 400s. i guess i crossed some of the ones i shouldnt have and it blew the fuse. now i installed 60watt xenon-blue tinted halogen bulbs, and the plugs for them stuck out too far in the back and the wires got rubbed bare and my fuse would blow every time i would turn my lights on. now i have both my probs fixed. check all your wiring.

i ride a 2000 honda 400EX with maier purple plastic, purple renthal bars, black seat cover, motion pro twist throttle, prm full body skid plate, prm swing arm skid plate, prm front bumper, 20 inch turf tamers on rear, graydon proline aluminum nerf bars. go to www.angelfire.com/stars/stuff4

Could you please tell me everything you know about making a 400EX street legal. I badly want to legally ride my 400EX everywhere. Ive looked into it but havent had any luck. The reason I want to know is because I am 18 and still dont have a car. I opted to buy a 400EX instead of a car, and now cant afford a car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
