Default Oil And Clutch Question

Synthetic oil won't affect your clutch.

It won't make it slip.

The difference between synthetic oil and dino oil is that the molecules in syn oil are all the same size. This makes the oil less likely to shear.

There are no friction modifyers in atv/motorcycle oil. Most but not all "car" oil's contain Moly. Moly is great for metal to metal engine protection. it is said that moly could affect a wet clutch.

Atv/motorcycle oils don't have any Moly.

Most "synthetic" oils are not synthetic. They are a group III dino oil.

Mobile1, Amsoil, Redline, Torco and European derived synthetic oils are pure synthetics. Pennzoil, Valvoline, Castrol etc are NOT true synthetics.

What oil did you put in the bike?

Default Oil And Clutch Question

I don't know who "Ultramar" is but I highly doubt that their oil is in fact syn oil, it's proly a g3 dino.

It may have quite a bit of Moly in it which could cause your clutch to slip. Find a fully syn oil w/o Moly for your wet clutch.

Default Oil And Clutch Question

I think I will only use non-synthetic use as I always did before. By the way, Ultramar is some cheap oil in Canada and it's written synthetic blend on the pint.

Default Oil And Clutch Question

I have run Honda HP4M Synthetic/Petrolium Blend with Moly in my manual clutch bikes for years (but NOT in the autoclutch bikes), with no problems.

Default Oil And Clutch Question

I have been running moblie 1 10w 30 full synthedic blend in my 300ex for about a year and a half. I think it makes my clutch grab great, why would you put 20w 50 in it ??? was this in the quadsport 230 or the 300ex?
Athough I like the moblie 1 and makes my quad run great, I have always been worried about 10w 30 not have the tempuature range that is recommended for the 300ex's. The owners manual calls for 10w 40. Up untill I saw it at my local hardware store did I even know it exsited, but I bought a few bottles of amsiol synthedic 10w 40 ATV 4 stroke oil. havin't had a chance to try it out, but I think it will be better than car motor oil for it.
Also more money, but if you wanna play you gotta pay!!!!!!!!!!

NO WING NO PRAYER

Default Oil And Clutch Question

Hey fast300.
10w-30 will hold it's viscosity much better than a 10w-40. The larger the spread between the weights the more viscositie improvers there will be.

So after say after 20 hrs a 10w-30 may actully be a 10w-25 and a 10w-40 might be a 10w-15 due to it sheering down.

Chech out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com for lots of good oil info.
