Best Cam for the 400ex with out have to upgrade internals
I own a 400ex with a white brothers R4 exhaust and a k&N filter and a White Brothers rev box. I want to purchase a stage 1 cam and I do pretty much alot of sand riding and hill climbing and some trail riding in the sand uh I dont like mud too much it really deterioats the quads fast I think but anyway I was leaning toward the White Brothers cam but I know there are a few options out there so I figured I would take it too the people for some advice so any advice would be really appreciated thanks

do you know anything about the white brothes stuff I was wanting to know how durable they are since most of my mods are white brothers i was leaning towards that but you run the hot cams and there is a pretty noticeble power difference

im running a hotcam stage 2, i went with the sage 2 because it was only $99.99 on ebay and i DID NOT HAVE TO CHANGE THA VALVE SPRINGS and i heard tha stage 2 worked best in 440's ova tha stage 1 but you could run a stage 2 in a stock engine with no problem

with the stock piston, i would get the hotcam stage 1. with a higher compression piston, i would get a hotcam stage 2. you use your stock rockers with both cams and can even use stock springs. when you get the cam, i would order the newer version. the older version had a lot of problems. you can tell if it is the newer version by looking at it because it will already have the flange pressed on. the older version required you to press your flange on off of your stock cam.

yes, hotcam did revise their cams. they had problems with the old cam because the flanged you pressed on wanted to come off. there were good about it and replaced the bad cam with a new one free of charge. however, you would have to go through the hassle of taking the old one out and putting the new one in. also, some people had motor failure with the flange coming off when they were riding which led to some broken parts.
