Thats apparantly the only upgrade available when the YFZ was introduced....so they went with it.

 

14mins- You stated that the Predator is breaking down all the time. Where did you get that info from. I think for a first year production quad not to mention first ever manual sport from Polaris it is proving to be very good. Anybody who buys a first year quad knows the risks. At least they are standing behind them. 04 are fixed and it is rumered they will be coming out with an update kit for the 03's. Later

 

Personally I'd opt for the YFZ just because it has electric start . Thats right I'm old and lazy!

Guess I am not understanding you. THats the lnly linkage that honda had at the time. The crf has bneen around for awhile, dont understand why honda didnt do what yamaha did, and take there good dirtbike linkage, and adopt it to the quad?? Maybe it wil be fine the way they have it........who knows...........just seems like it would be better with the dirtbike linkage...............yet another area where the yamaha did better, (in my opinion)

More shock travel both rear and front
(in my opinion) better looks
5 titanium valves (as compared to 4 with the TRX)
More hi-tech carb
better linkage
Electric start

Honda Advantages-
Unicam design cylinder
a full 450 cc's
cheaper price tag
big carb
honda is known for their reliability



Motor wise- Honda may have the edge
Suspension/Handling wise- YFZ
Jumping- YFZ

Judging from the facts id say the YFZ is a better track runner but a TRX is a better trail runner

 

oh and no the TRX will not have 55 hp like the CRF is. The main reason that the crf is muscling out so much hp is cuz of the way dirtbikes have their carbs set. Its a buterfly style carb which give them an incredible power increase. i think TRX will have 35-39 hp

 

honda has said 42hp stock and if you get their power kit for $300 msrp 48hp. Those will be some good numbers if they hold true which I believe they probably will be real close. Everybody is still really quessing and looking at compression and carbs. Well who knows what they have done to the inside of the motor for the head and ports. Could be maxed out right out of the box creating great hp #.

 

I think the 450r will beat the yfz carb : 39 mm for the yzf 42 mm for the 450r
and he it cheaper 439cc 450cc
