Polaris ebs vs Honda ebs
Ive owned Honda and Yamaha but now own a Polaris 700.The first time I rode my 700 I went down a steep hill and ended up sliding out of control trying to stop then relising that the 700s ebs only affects the rear wheels.Im used to the other atvs 4wheel ebs and I think works lots better than rear wheel ebs.Ive complained to polaris and talked to other polaris riders and they all say the polaris ebs is better than the Hondas and Yamaha systems but Ive rode both , anyone have an opinion about this so I know If Its me or not.

Polaris "true 4-wd" seems to only work up hill or when the throttle is applied. I watch them slide down steep loose hills with just the rear wheels locked up all the time. I guess that makes them 2-wd, if it only works 1/2 the time.
I needed to come back and edit my post just a little, feathers ruffled.
"I guess that makes them 2-wd, if it only works 1/2 the time." j/k (just kidding, Honda "3-wd", Polaris "2-wd") I guess I should have explained this the first time. Next post I will leave out any sarcasm.

Well from someone who own boths honda and polaris, i prefer the polaris breaking. If ya use the throttle a little going down hill u can keep the back wheels from locking up, and if u want 4 wheel braking, use the brake lever, (its the little black lever.) And the comment about polaris being 2wd? If i had a dollar everytime i pulled a honda out of the mud i would be rich. Like i sai before i have both honda(2002 Rincon) and Polaris(1998 Sportsman 500) and they are both great machines. Just hate it when people are so narrow minded that they bash what they dont understand.

I understand them quite well actually and I'm not really narrow-minded. Ride with a lot of different ATV's, I am just speaking from personal experience and what I see all the time. I guess I forgot about the one brake lever. Just spoiled when it come to engine braking. I have pulled more than my share of the other brand too, some out of mud, snow and quite a few that just can't seem to make it home their own. Have been riding in groups (when ridding aggressively) when as many a 25% of one particular brand had to get towed home. But I guess I don't really know though because I don't own one of each.
markie, use your one brake lever next time (its the little black lever).

Lets just say it! The whole Polaris line is CONTRIVED!! Sled people have no buisness trying to build something with wheels! People buy these things because they are automatics, and they don't have to learn to shift. That, is precisely why Honda has gone to all automatics in its higher end utes. Pretty sad trend!! My kids were shifting when they were 5 years old. Are we all so stupid that we can't learn to shift?

Wish I had the talent your kids do. I have only been shifting for 35 years. I used to like to shift, but I don't any more. My truck is a stick, 250,000 miles, enough. My 5.0 Mustang, an automatic, wouldn't have a stick. Could I shift a five speed? Gee, I don't know, probably too stupid and old to learn. Do I want to shift an ATV all day? No.
"Are we all so stupid that we can't learn to shift?"
I do believe this is a choice of personal preference, not because we are fat and lazy or "stupid". But I guess it takes "real talent" to push that little lever up or down with your foot. You do use your foot don't you? Or do the have a gearshifter with a little T-handle on them or an 8-ball?
