Yep, I did. Yep, he imbarassed me. We didn't have nearly enough room to strech out, but it would have just made it even worse. I got fourth gear wound up and just hit fifth when the room ran out and he was in middle fourth I think. The holeshot would swap between us but he would reel me in real quick like and shoot past me like I had just let off the gas. Amazing. This was all after I had just put in new clutch springs and had been telling my buddy that was with me how fast the R is now that I am getting the power down. My motor mods include- mild porting, fmf gold series, bored stock carb, uni filter. My R was tuned up nice and running strong.
His motor mods included- full sparks pipe and cam mod. I couldn't believe it, I mean I knew he'd beat me, but man he beat me like a backtalking step child. What a nice machine.
I guess I'll have to put on my racing jug and 39mm keihn, then I'll go back for seconds!

That's right. He beat me pretty darn bad, and I had just gotten it running really strong. This was on flat ground with good traction. I don't want to think about the embarassment of an uphill sand drag. However, look at my engine mods, they are nearly nothing. If it had been a stock YFZ I might have been able to take him, but that 450 responds so well to anything you do to it. I have a fully ported jug that will only run on race gas and a really nice carb to go with it and neither of them where on. I know the guy and I'm sure someday I'll get the chance to run him with my race setup, then maybe it will be a closer race. I don't run the race set up all the time because it's more enjoyable on the trails with mild power.

A stock R will get destroyed by the 450. I've raced two 450s with my 310r.
One was a short drag and I got him by about 2-3 bikes, the second was a long drag, this is where my bike shined, I had him by about 12 lengths. Both of these drags where on pavement and with against stock 450.
I'm sure that if the 450 had a few mods I wouldn't do so well. Overall I am very impressed.

Yeah, I really was stunned at how bad he beat me. The first time he took off in first gear and had a lot of tire spin and in about 85 yards or so he beat me by about 3-4 quad lengths. But the second time, he took off in second gear, stumbled it and I got a great holeshot on him and by the time I was shifting into fourth gear he blew past me as if I had stopped racing. It was utterly amazing that a fourstroke could beat my R when the only money he had spent on that engine was for an exhaust. I have beaten raptors with every bolt on part availible on them back when my quad wasn't nearly as fast as it is now. DS 650's didn't have a chance, even with a pipe-- just too darn heavy. Z400's- just a piped 400ex. 400ex's, are you kidding me? But that new Yamaha really smokes, and electric start to boot.

Thanks, fast440. Lot's of talk about stock 250r's. Mines not stock buy any means. It will wipe the floor with a stock 250R. Sure, it wasn't in full race form when I raced the 450, but it can really hold it's own in a drag the way it is. Here's what I have on it right now- FMF gold series, 36mm bored stock carb, 21cc milled head, mild porting (made a BIG difference over stock), boost port piston (not much of a mod, I know) 36 tooth rear sprocket with 18" turf tamers (big weight difference when compared to his 20" stockers), and that's it for speed. Like I said, I figured I'd get beat. I just didn't think it would be as bad as it was. On the second race, he took me by about 8 quad lengths in roughly 85 yards. To me, that's mind boggling because I know what I have beaten before.
