Default which is the best Kodiak 450 or Rubicon?

I want to get the opinion of the people on here. I like the rubicon cause i'm a honda guy and i love the honda reliability. My brother likes the kodiak cause right now he has an artic cat 250 and has always complained cause it is not very sporty feeling, so he thinks the kodiak will provide the sportyness he wants and he likes the diff locker. so what do ya think guys rubi or kodi?

My friend owns a 450 and I have a Rubicon. Different quads, the 450 is easier to steer and alot of fun to ride especially around turns however when the going gets tough the Rubicon shines.

I have noticed the following advantages for the Rubicon:
1) Engine braking down step hills
2) The Rubicon is quieter

Depending on the type of riding and what you want to do both will do the job. IMO the Rubicon is more of a "workhorse" and the 450 is more fun to drive. Having said that, this is just my unbiased opinion from riding both.

Comparing the Rubicon to the Kodiak is like apples to oranges. BIG difference. Without a doubt, the Rubicon is the better machine.

we like to ride on tight trails and open rodes in the mountains lots of hills and a little mud. my brother likes to ride a little faster than me. but other than that we ride on the same terrain with each other. Which one hill climbs better? faster? smoother?

the rubicon by far has the smoothest tranny and give you more options wether your trailriding , mudding it or climbing a hill and its alot more reliable. the kodiak probably has a little better ride but not nearly as stable. IMO i would go with the rubicon its a better all arounder....the rubicon can hit about 50 mph so speed might not be an issue.

I'd have to vote for the Kodiak. I had a 2000 Kodiak 400, and it was a good machine. I can only imagine that the 450 is a step above the 400. Also, I had a full time four wheel drive machine before, and if I had my choice, I would never own another full time four wheel drive machine. I've rode a couple Rubicons, and they are very nice machines, but due to the inability to switch to two wheel drive when a 4X is not needed kept me from buying one.

I would imagine that once in while the locking front end would give the Kodiak an advantage and being able to take it out of 4-wd would make it sportier. Other than that I would take the Rubicon. It doesn't matter to us that it is in 4-wd all the time. At first we thought it would but now we could care less. I think for mountain ridding the Rubicon is hard to beat. It has the best trans in any ATV.

ive ridden a rubicon before on the trails and i have to say i love that quad. it was quiet, good suspension, plenty of room, it was fast enough, and it got through some pretty rough stuff. ive never ridden a kodiak before, but i would go with the rubicon
