First 450R MX Win
It would seem to me that the people who would bitch about a "race quad" not having electric start have never raced in their lives.
How many real racers have added electric start to their race machines?
If it was a huge advantage all the 250r guys would have been doing it for years.
However a fifteen pound weight savings is an advantage.
Flame away.

Holy #@$@# I cant believe you guys are now fighting over kick or electric LMFAO
Am I the only one looking at this feature as being just the way it is etc. and am accepting that if I purchase one ASAP I will be kicking it (no big deal by the way).
I figure just like anything else on a quad its about "trade offs" and when you lose the weight you gain the kick, and after Honda sees all this fuss about it and offers an electric start model you will be able to decide on trading off the weight for the ease of the button.
Like may other members I have kicked all kinds of different machines, but the only ones or times I would claim a e-start to be better was when having problems starting and during trouble shooting etc as this is when you kick your leg out. Otherwise its just what it is and what you will do if you own it etc.
I also think that when you are the muscle turning that engine over you find the time to keep on top of maintenence more than when you just hit the button.

Going to have to disagree on this. Honda is going to build the motor to fit in the chassis. Its not the other way around. The motor was built without a kickstarter to help in the weight department. The general mindset is to save weight where weight isnt needed and help strengthen the bike. You wont see aluminum a-arms on the 450r like the yfz to save weight where structural integrity shouldnt be sacrificed. I dont think you realize what type of re-engineering would have had to have taken place to take off a kickstarter from a motor. Your talking redesigning an entire motor to remove the starter.

From TRX440
I know a guy that has an electric start 350x. He bought the kit from Goki I believe.
Gabe,
No doubt, with a name like Goki you have to wonder if it didn't begin life as the starter on a Russian tank.
If the aftermarket could design a starter for a 4 stroke back in the 80's, they ought to be able to do some good work 20 years later.
I heard that the Phoenix guy uses an XR 650L starter.
Anyways, when the CRF450X comes out that will all change as it will have E-start from the factory.

true, honda doesnt get in a "hurry," like i said. but i cant help but wonder if yamaha rattled their cage a little...
all im sayin is that they could have done it. if yamaha did, they could to, JMO.
