Just one more bit of speculation on the new bike. You know how it is hard to start kicker bikes (sometimes darn near impossible) when they are in gear. Wonder if this will be true for the new 450??? It's a pain most of the time to have to find neutral to start a bike.

 

I never had problems starting my blaster or banshee in gear. I'm sure the honda will be the same. Just remember to pull in the clutch before you try starting it.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

I always found it difficult to start the Blaster in gear, and I'm no lightweight! I was riding last weekend with some friends who have several Shees, a Blaster, and a 250R, and that is what got me wondering about this topic. Everybody seems to look for neutral before kicking over their bikes. Not the best spot to be in if you stall it on the side of a huge Dumont dune!

 

a few times i thought mine was in neutral and kicked it over without the clutch in and in started right up and took off. one time i was in my garage facing the wall. lol i had to stall that thing fast. i doubt it will be hard to start in gear. i heard that it was one of the easiest kickstarting quads out there.

 

It will always be harder to kick a machine in gear than in neutral due to the frictional ("stictional") drag of the oil in the clutch plates- with as easy as I hear the 450R kicks, sounds like kicking in gear won't be a problem - especially when the oil is warm and thin.

It will be easier to start in neutral, but will likely start just fine in gear if you give it a good kick.

 

Yeah if you would be worried about it just pull the clutch in. And like stated above, it is harder to start in gear than in nuetral because your practically pushing the whole engine and bike forward when kicking it, so you would be able to tell if it was in gear.

 

OK, two things about this, I don't think it will be hard to kick in gear, like most have said before me, but even if it is, it has a neutral light so it will be easy to find it...unlike on the bikes.

 

Does it have a nuetral light though? I have only seen one light on the pictures and I would think that may be a temp. warning light.

 

HOW CAN IT RUN A NEUTRAL LIGHT? NO BATTERY! Without the motor running, there is no power to run a neutral light.

The disadvantage to any kicker is no power when the motor is off. We had problems with a bike the other night while night riding. Us guys with electric starter bikes, had to circle our bikes around the injured machine. The Shees were useless. They can't be run while not moving (they will overheat quickly), so their lights are useless.
