KC,

You can get a 440 Big Bore Kit in 10:1 compression for $260. It includes the JE piston kit, big bore sleave and headgasket. Get yourself a mild cam like the Web 450/451 Grind and add another $154 bucks. Parts would be $414 total and get chuck to bore it out and you'd be pretty close to your total.

KC,

They are better for both. I think Chuck might disagree. However, with the 440 bore, eventually you WILL run race gas, and you can upgrade easily to the 12:1. If you rode mine, you would be shocked!

On the rod question check this out, Honda rod and crank. #1 is the rod. It connects the piston to the crank.

Get the JE 416 you can use the same block a few times. Cause if you ride hard like you are supposed too it will knock again eventually. As for the 440 a well built 416 (THE RIGHT WAY) piston, valves, ect. will out perform a 200.00 or 400.00 dollar 440 kit any day but like I said a 416 is the way to go. hope that helps.

I dont think a JE 416 will out-perform a JE 10:1 440. They'll be close, but it won't out perform. I got that speech when Chuck (my mechanic) advised me about the 440. Well, I went ahead and put the 440 in and fricken blew is mind with the power. I guess I am also thinking about KC when he upgrades later to a JE 12:1 for even more power without boring it out anymore. Add a carb, cams, valve springs and some other items and he can keep going. Knowing how old he is, it would seem to me to be the most cost effective for him over the next 5 years. In two years, I KNOW he will be ready for another upgrade. I guess Im thinking about going in stages.
