I know a lot of you guys are still teens but I think its funny that you cant understand why Honda doesnt come out with a latest and greatest quad every year. Anyone remember the 90's . For years Dirtwheels would tease us with rumors of a big bore performance quad. Secret photos, artists conceptual drawings ect. And what did we get year after year the old stone age 250x with electric start(300ex ,which is still the same darn quad).
What did Honda do to the 400ex when the raptors,ds650 and cannondales came on the scene..........nothing. When polaris came out with a 500cc utility what was hondas response..... a 450 foreman. Thier wolverine equivalent is what?....nothing.
Frankly I was shocked when they released the 450r only a year after the yamaha. It was out of character for them.
Im not quite sure why they would release a 650ex. (shouldn't it be at least a 700) but I for one will not hold my breath for it.
From thier past history I think Honda could care less about the sport quad market and what the consumer really wants.
PS Im still saving up for a 50 horse sport quad ,under 400pound, 4x4 with long travel suspension that would dominate the trails.mud holes, and track.

Wis,
If you wanted a 650 sport quad, what would you buy? A DS 650, a Raptor, a KFX700 or a TRX650EX?
BTW,
Who could make a sub 400lb 4x4 sport quad? Most companies have a tough enough time making sub 400lb sport bikes period.

When everyone else is boiling over ot the dunes the EX's just keep on going. I'll take a set of fat bars, an FCR carb, and 450R shocks for the money it would cost to re-engineer for watercooling.

As far as getting a 4x4 under 400 the wolverine is pretty close but its to much of a comprimise . Its got a ancient engine,to narrow .too tall, and a steel frame built to handle racks. Yamaha already has a 2 wheel drive bike . All they have to do is incorparate a similar system in a quad. It doesnt have to give full power to the front wheels . Maybe 20 to 30 percent. Enough to make it claw its way out of mud holes and allow you to power drift in the corners. We have been looking into setting up a sport quad with a yamaha type system and it seems very possible but a purpose built quad from the ground up is the real way to go.
Have you seen the 4x4 off road race pickups. They blow the doors off the 2 wheel drives. All it took was some will and technology.
