any news on a 650EX?

I personally think the 400 Scrambler is closer but only in the engine dept. I agree that the susp. and weight of the wolv is better. I also think there is a major market for this. There are a lot of bikes that are rubbing around the hole but none of them are in it yet.
Wolverine = somewhat sporty but heavy for the power and not too quick
660R Grizz, 650/700 Prairie, Rincon, Vinson, AC 650, etc. = heavy, utillity, some with IRS, some sport virtues
400 Scrambler = heavy and lacking in susp. but can be powerful and fast.
500 Scrambler = same only heavier and not as upgradeable
I honestly think Honda could be a ground breaker here.

Is that sarcasm? Why? You don't think a real sport 4x4 would be ground breaking or just that you don't think Honda can compete in the open class? Most of the current entries in the open class have serious deficiencies in one area or another. It wouldn't be that difficult for just about any manufacturer to hit a home run in it, IMO. Especially if that model were also availible in AWD/4WD.

No-- no sarcassm- sorry if I came off that way. I am truely waiting for something pretty ideal to be produced one of these days. Just that Honda is yet to be the next manufacturer to make a big displacement unit.

I agree. Honda just doesn't seem to "wow" people anymore, IMO anyway. They had the ATC 350X back in the day and it was sort of ahead of its time with the "big" four stroke. Looks like the guy who got that to market is no longer making those decisions, of course it has been almost 20 years. Honda is kind of asleep at the wheel right now, if you ask me. The 450R seem good but not ground breaking and not dominant like the original R. Time will tell what Big Red is capable of.

I would say it is just at the level to be considered fast, you know what i mean? These days with Raptors, DS650 and high performance 450s people might think the 400ex is low performance.

Who know's when Honda will ever step up to the plate with their 650, they'll probably milk sales out of the new 450R for years.
I was'nt waiting any longer, I built my own XR650 quad back before there was anything over 400cc's available from any Mfg., been very pleased.
