First service on Rincon
I just bought a new Rincon. Its getting time for the first service. It says to adjust the valves. Is this something that can be done easily? I am competent mechanically, but I only know about car engines. I have never done more than change oil on an atv. What is adjustable on the valve? is there a rocker arm, lifter, or overhead cam? How hard is it? Where is it? Should I just take it to the dealer?

wyowheeler, congrats on the new Rincon. where did you end up getting it?
If you have adjusted the valves on any imports, your ATV will not be a problem. A "cold engine" is under 100 degrees F. Buy a Honda manual. You spend a lot more time getting to them than adjusting them. There might only be one that needs to be adjusted too.

Justforfunhonda, I have been reading some of your replies in other threads and you really know you Hondas. I have a question for you. I think I will take my rincon to the dealer for the service. While it is there, I want it rejetted for my area. The elevation here is about 4500 ft. This is where I do 80% of my riding. The other 20% is in the mountains ranging from 8000-10000 ft. What would be a good jet size for this type of riding? I want to get the most performance I can without any mods other than a rejet. Right now it wont wheelie without some serious weight shifting on my part. It only has about 100 miles right know and ive heard the power gets better after 200-300 miles.

I have put the jet kits in bike that have come in for their first service and the power gain is incredible. I have never really seen this type of improvement without having to change an exhaust or other items. The most common set-up I have leaving is stock bikes with k&n filter and a moose jet kit by dyno jet. The needle and spring make the biggest difference. So a new needle, spring and a 144 main jet are what you need. TWHen you go to the mountains to ride you will need anywhere from a 140-138 more than likely. Our ATV Chassis Dyno will be here in two weeks, so I will post some actual numbers once I get the data. Hope this helps you guys!
